Bid submitted for
2012 Postal meet |

Qatar has
formally submitted its bid for hosting the Universal Postal
Union's (UPU) World Postal Congress in 2012.Qatar's ambassador
to Switzerland, Abdullah Falah al-Dossari, made the announcement
at a meeting, hosted by the embassy in Berne last week.Giving
details of the meeting, Q-Post chairman Ali Mohamed al-Ali said
the country's bid for hosting the 25th World Postal Congress had
the backing of a large number of countries in the GCC, and Arab
regions and also a number of its friends spread through out the
world.The Q-Post chairman recalled that the UAE had made an
unsuccessful bid for hosting the 23rd World Postal Congress in
2004. Though it lost the race to Nairobi, ultimately Romanian
capital Bucharest was the venue for the 2004 congress.Queried if
any other country had made a bid for hosting the 2012 congress.
Asked about Qatar's
chances of winning the bid, the chairman said he is
optimistic, Al-Ali said al-Dossari had made a presentation on the
country and highlighted the number of meetings, conferences, and
exhibitions that the country had played host to in the past one
decade.The chairman said the Qatar team had given a clear
picture of the facilities that the country has for hosting such
a major meeting, where there would be delegates from at least
191 countries.Qatar Airways too made a presentation on the
country's national carrier and its network at the meeting held
in Berne. Besides al-Ali, the Q-Post delegation comprised IT
manager George Scott Campbell, public relations manager Abdullah
Shlash al-Hajiri, head of Quality management centre Catina
Aghyan, and head of international relations Jassim al-Malki.A

Dayan and deputy director general Guozhong Huang.

Q-post Chairman Ali Mohamed Al-Ali said the Arab
Postal stamps Exhibition hosted by Q-post under the
directing of the Arab league was the first of its
kind. The exhibition over five days attracted large
audiences in general and amateur stamp, in
particular.
At dinner banquet held in
Ramada Hotel 3 February
Q-post honored the participants in the exhibition,
along with journalists. Ali pointed out that this
Arab forum was an opportunity to exchange
experiences and fruitful cooperation between Arab
postal institutions, which reflected positively on
the development of the postal sector in the Arab
world. |

Q-Post participated in combating drug smuggling and money
laundering across parcels |
A delegation from the General Post
includes both Mr. Fahed Al-Hajri ,
From Mumtaz Section, and Mr.
Mohammed Jassim Al-Mahazaa from
parcels section, in the work of
regional symposium on combating drug
smuggling and money laundering
through postal parcels, which began
in the period 25-27 November 2007,
the capital Tripoli.The
symposium aims are to increase the
awareness of stakeholders in the
Arab region, the risk of smuggling
drugs either banned or in productive
ways legitimate addition to the
evaluation of the contribution of
control of the border in the fight
against drug trafficking banned by
mail, cargo. it also seeks to
encourage participating countries to
formulate an understanding
memorandum for cooperation between
them along with a model of joint
agreements to promote cooperation
and information exchange ,the
symposium was attended by experts in
the field from the United Nations
and the International Postal Union
and specialists from the Gulf
states, Arab, coordinator of the
draft anti-drug mail device,
professors and experts from
universities and relevant
institutions in Libya. The
participants of the symposium in the
preparation and publication of a
comprehensive assessment of the
patterns of the dangers of illegal
drug trafficking and trends in the
region. In addition to preparing a
regional plan of action to enhance
the capacity to address this issue.

the Quality Services for the Arab Countries 2007 |

In corporation with “UPU”,
Q-Post arranged the Quality Services for the Arab
Countries 2007 in duration 18-19 of Nov,2007, with
the participation of representatives of the “UPU”
experts. Mr.Ali Mohammed Al-Ali The General Manager
of Q-Post lectures the task. ,and talked about the
distribution of souvenirs to the participants. Also
he Explained institution's commitment to achieving
the goals of the “UPU”,for the quality service and
building a society of information to consolidate
mail nurturing key role in the use of technology and
commitment to quality standards and the pursuit of
the best. Reached Conference to a number of
conclusions and recommendations. |

GCC Postal
Corporations Join Hands |
|
Detailed discussions were held
at the two-day meeting on the scope of improving the
handling of parcels between GCC states, said the
communication. The officials had extensive
discussions on the strategy to be adopted by the GCC
postal congress to be held in Nairobi next year,
considering the growing importance of the postal
corporations of the Arab region these days, it said.
Along with the two-day meet, an exhibition of
philately units of the GCC corporations was held.
Qatar pavilion had attracted a large number of
visitors and came in for appreciation from the top
officials of the universal post union� UPU�,the apex
body of the postal corporations at the exhibition.
Speaking at a conference held as part of the
exhibition, director general of the UPU, Edward
Dayan lauded the efforts being made by Q-Post in
improving the postal sector in Qatar. An
international meet on the importance of IT in postal
sector was also held as part of the conference.As
large number of delegates representing more than 140
postal corporations of the world attended the event.

On 29th of Oct Mr.Ali AL-Ali
met Mr.Rolimberg Estafodi Soza who in charge for
the Brazilian Embassy affairs, they discuss a lot of
things such cooperation between both side, also the
achievement in Q-Post and its several services for
the customers. Mr. Rolimberg had a tour include
philatelic Section, Main Counter, e-Gov, and the
Internet Cafe, which serve its services as free for
the customers; also he listened about stamps issued
for internal and external occasions. Finally he
registered his word in the registration book for the
guests. |
