Q-Post launches the 1st Arab Countries RFID Pilot Project

Under his patronage, M. Ali Mohd Al Ali hosted the 1st project group for the RFID Pilot project.

Q-Post (Qatar) the quality leader in the region, has launched the 1st RFID Pilot Project. The Project Pilot will be testing live different RFID technologies for Quality of Service Measurement of letter mail on behalf of the 22 Arab Countries.

Miss Catina Aghayan, Q-Post Quality & Development Expert stated that results and evaluation of this unique project will help the 22 Arab Postal administrations and the world wide postal community to have concrete information on the choice of new technologies and to help assessing feasibility of using new technologies at the UPU Global Monitoring System

Miss. Catina Aghayan, Quality & Development Consultant - Q-Post(Qatar) attended the 3 days summary meeting in Doha.
This meeting coordination was held in preparation of launching the pilot among several countries in the Region to test, create a live triangle matrix in a live environment, semi-active and passive RFID technologies for quality of service measurement of live letter mail- Stated Ms. Aghayan. The pilot started officially 08 March 2008 will continue over 3 months till 07 June 2008 in a triangle matrix among Qatar- Saudi- UAE.

The Pilot Project main purpose is to demonstrate the abilities of the different technolog
ies within the same environment in the field of real-time monitoring networks.
A hidden mail flow of almost 4000 item tests will be circulating over 3 months among the 3 matrix countries controlled and managed by the UPU appointed trusted body Quotas.
Multinational Companies Motorola (USA), AIDA (Spain), Lyngsoe (Denmark) deployed their latest advanced equipment in this unique and valuable pilot project.
Q-Post (Qatar), UPU (Switzerland) QS SC Rep. Correios Post (Brazil), UPU Rep. Delivery Management (UK), will all contribute and support Qatar with the project management, supervision and commissioning.
Ms. Catina noted, Qatar being one of the member boards at the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Quality of Service Steering Committee (QS SC) is playing an exceptionally vital and essential role in the Global Monitoring system (GMS), the UPU innovative World Wide Project for Mail Control.

testing and track and trace, where International Delivery among countries` members will be linked in 2010 to international payments - terminal dues. Qatar is tasked to develop the GMS Pilot and implementation plan for the project in collaboration with Finland Post, by Qatar’s adpersonam M.Aghayan. The RFID Pilot project will come as vital substitute for the future UPU GMS project.
Ms. Catina Aghayan added that Qatar the Quality Pioneer in the Arab Region is very proud to initiate and launch this project and take place in this industry on contributing at the global improvement of the entire worldwide postal community.
